benefit or relief of volunteers, drafted men or their
families, be and are hereby confirmed and made
valid.

Levy.

Sec. 2. That the said County Commissioners be
and are hereby empowered and directed to levy on
the taxable property of their respective counties a
rate of taxation sufficient for the payment and
extinguishment, within a reasonable period, in
their discretion, of all debts and expenses incurred
as aforesaid, and any levy of taxes heretofore made
for the purpose aforesaid, is hereby confirmed and
made valid.

In force.

Sec. 3. That this act shall take effect from the
date of its passage.

 

CHAPTER 160.

AN ACT to allow John M. Viers, late Collector
of Taxes in the third collection district of Mont-
gomery county, further time to complete his col-
lections.

Time extend-
ed.

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That from and after the passage of
this act, John M. Viers, late Collector of Taxes in
the third collection district of Montgomery county
be and he is hereby authorized, until the first day
of January, eighteen hundred and sixty-six, to
collect all sums of money and balances due him as
Collector, in the same manner and as fully, to all

intents and purposes, as if the original time allowed
by law had not expired; provided, that it shall be
the duty of the said John M. Viers, before he pro-
ceeds to execute the property of any person or per-
sons for taxes, in virtue of this act, to deliver to
such person or persons, chargeable with the same,
at least thirty day previous to the levying of such
execution, affair account in writing of the taxes
demanded of him, her or them, and an affidavit
thereto annexed, that he hath not, directly or in-
