and legible hand, all the matters recorded in
" Passed Claims, Liber A," one of the record
books in the office of the Register of Wills afore-
said, with a proper and suitable index to the same;
and said new book, when completed and furnished,
shall be and is hereby declared to be substituted
in place and stead of the old one.

Levy.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That upon completion
of said book, as herein provided for, and upon the
approval and acceptance Of the same by the Or-
phans' Court of said county, the Commissioners
of said county shall levy for the use of said Regis-
ter, as other charges are now levied, such sum of
money as the said transcribing and entries shall
amount to, at the rate now allowed by law to Re-
gisters for recording, entering and indexing simi-
lar matters.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect immediately after its passage.

 

CHAPTER 15.

6, 1864.

AN ACT to aid and encourage enlistments into
the Maryland regiments in service of the United
States.

Governor au-
thorized to pay
bounty.

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Governor be and he is
hereby authorized to offer and pay to every person
except negro slaves, as hereinafter provided, who
shall enlist before the first day of March, eighteen
Hundred and sixty-four, to serve for three years,
unless sooner discharged, as part of the quota of
this State, in the armies of the United States, in
any of the regiments or batteries raised or to be
raised and organized or mustered into the service
of the United States, the sum of three hundred
dollars in addition to any bounty allowed or paid
by the Government of the United States, whereof
the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars shall be
