CHAPTER 129.

 

AN ACT to add the following additional sections
to the forty-fourth Article of the Code of Public
General Laws, title Maryland Hospital, pre-
scribing an additional oath to be taken by the
President, Vice President and Visitors of said
hospital.

7, 1864.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the following sections be added
to the forty-fourth Article of the Code of Public
General Laws, to be called sections fourteen and

fifteen.

Additional
sections.

Sec. 14. The President, Vice President, Visitors
and Physicians of the Maryland Hospital shall,
before the first day of May, eighteen hundred and
sixty-four, take and subscribe, before some person
qualified by law to administer oaths, the following
oath or affirmation: I do swear or affirm that I
have not -borne arms against the United States,
nor given any aid, countenance, sympathy or sup-
port to those engaged in armed hostility to the
Government of the United States, and that I will
bear true faith and allegiance to the United States,
and support the Constitution, Laws and Govern-
ment thereof, any law or ordinance of any State
to the contrary notwithstanding; the said Presi-
dentj Vice President, Visitors and Physicians shall
file the said oath so taken and subscribed by them,
properly attested, with the Clerk of the Superior
Court for Baltimore city, on or before the said first
day of May, and the said Clerk shall mark on the
same the day on which the same was received by
him; and if the said President, Vice President,
Visitors and Physicians, oc any of them, shall ne-
glect or refuse so to file said oath, taken, sub-
scribed and attested as aforesaid with the said
Clerk on or before said day, the office of the per-
son so neglecting or refusing shall be ipso facto
vacant, and the same shall be filled as provided for
by section four of this Article and for the purpose
of so filling any vacancy or vacancies so caused ;
three members of the Board shall constitute a
quorum, and if said vacancy or vacancies shall not
