CHAPTER 122.

AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money annually
to the Home of the Friendless.

Passed Mar.
5, 1864.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Treasurer shall, upon the.
warrant of the Comptroller, pay to the Home of
the Friendless the sum of five thousand dollars
annually.

Authorized
to pay.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 123.

 

AN ACT to add an an additional section to Arti-
cle thirty of the Code of Public General Laws,
relating to Crimes and Punishments.

Passed March
7, 1864.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the following be enacted as an
additional section to Article thirty of the Code of
Public General Laws, relating to Crimes and
Punishments.

Additional
section.

Sec. 206. Any person who shall entice, persuade;
enlist or hold out any inducement to any resident
or citizen of this State to enlist, or to leave the
State for the purpose of enlisting in any of the
United States, as a part of the quota of said State
in the armies of the United States, under the acts
of Congress, or the calls of the President hereto-
fore or hereafter to be made, such person so offend-
ing, shall, on conviction thereof in any Circuit
Court of any of the counties of this State, or Crim-
inal Court of the city of Baltimore, be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor, and be punished by a
fine of not less than twenty nor more than five
hundred dollars, at the discretion of the court.
