A. W. BRADFORD, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

Company, in Frederick and Carroll counties, and
by the same name shall have succession during
the continuance of this corporation, and the said
stockholders and their successors, by the above
authority, may sue and be sued, answer and be
answered in any court of law or equity in this
State, and may adopt and use a common seal, and
break the same at their pleasure, and may do and
execute every other matter and thing by the name
aforesaid that they are authorized to do by the
virtue of this act.

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That the President
and Directors, after their election as hereinbefore
provided for, shall have full power to receive ad-
ditional subscriptions for the completion of said
road, and the said President and Directors are
hereby invested with all the rights and powers
necessary to the construction of said road on the
bed of the county road leading from Liberty to
New Windsor, or as nearly as may be practicable
to do so, making an artificial bed of stone not less
than sixteen feet in breadth.

Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That the President
and Directors of said company shall have full
power to widen said road wherever and whenever
it shall be found necesssary for the construction of
the same.

Sec. 7. And be it enacted, That the Commis-
sioners of Frederick county be and they are here-
by, authorized, in their discretion, to subscribe for
such number of shares as they may deem expe-
dient, and that the Commissioners of Carroll
county be and they are hereby also authorized, in
their discretion, to subscribe for such number of
shares as they may deem expedient.

Sec. 8. And be it enacted, That so soon as the
said company shall have completed three miles of
said road, by making an artificial road of stone,
the bed of which shall be at least sixteen feet wide,
commencing at either end thereof, then it shall be
lawful for said company to erect a toll-gate there-
on, and charge and receive such tolls as are now
charged and received by the Frederick and Woods-
