thorized to become subscribers to and hold stock of
the said North Branch Company; and to appoint
their agents respectively to vote their stock in all
meetings of the stockholders of said company.

General meet-
ings may be
called.

Sec. 10. And be it enacted. That a general meet-
ing of the said stockholders may be called at any
time, by any three or more of its stockholders, up-
on giving twenty days public notice, and that a
majority of the stockholders, holding a majority of
the shares of said capital stock, shall be required
to transact business in such meeting of stockhold-
ers.

When work
to be commen-
ced.

Sec. 11. And be it enacted, That if the said work
shall not be commenced within two years, and com-
pleted within five years from the passage of this
act, the same shall be null and void.

Banking priv-
ileges prohibit-
ed.

Sec. 12. And be it enacted, That nothing in this
act shall be so construed as to authorize the said
company to issue any note, token, scrip or other
evidence of debt, to be used as currency, and the
General Assembly reserves to itself the right to
alter, amend or repeal this act at pleasure.

 

CHAPTER 62.

Passed March
20, 1865.

AN ACT to provide for the pay ment of the State's
proportion of the expenses incurred in the burial
of the dead and enclosing and ornamenting the
grounds of the Soldiers' National Cemetery at
Gettysburg.

Sum appro-
priated.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the sum of four thousand
two hundred and five dollars and thirty cents be
and the same is hereby appropriated as the State's
proportion of the cost of improving and maintain-
ing the Soldiers' National Cemetery at Gettysburg;
and the Treasurer, upon the warrant of the Comp-
troller, is hereby directed to pay the same to
