holding general meetings of the stockholders and
declare dividends and all other acts appertaining
to said company.

Company
may negotiate
loans, but are
prohibited
banking privi-
leges.

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That said company
shall have the power to negotiate a loan or loans
to an amount not at any time exceeding two-thirds
of the actual capital, bona fide, paid in upon its
bonds to be issued under the seal of the company
and subscribed by the President and Secretary
thereof, and to be secured by mortgage or other-
wise, upon its property or any part of it; but said
company shall not issue any note, token or device
to be used as currency nor exercise any banking
privileges whatever.

Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from its passage, and may be repealed,
altered and amended at the pleasure of the General
Assembly.

AN ACT to amend an act entitled, "An act to
aid and encourage enlistments into the Mary-
land Regiments in service of the United States,"
passed eighteen hundred and sixty-four, chapter
fifteen, and to provide for the prompt payment
of the bounties therein specified; and to repeal
section four of said act, and to re-enact the same
so as to make the bounties therein specified pay-
able to the widows and heirs of deceased sol-
diers.

WHEREAS, By an act of the General Assembly
of Maryland, passed eighteen hundred and sixty-
four, chapter fifteen, entitled, "An act to aid and
encourage enlistments into the Maryland, Regi-
ments in service of the United States, and the
supplements thereto, certain bounties were pro-
vided for volunteers and others, enlisting for three
years upon the quota of the State, under the call
