LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Superintendent of Public Instruction, and he shall
notify the State Superintendent of Public Instruc-
tion, and the Treasurer of each of the several
Boards of School Commissioners of counties and
the city of Baltimore, of the amount of tax due to
each county and the city of Baltimore; and the
Treasurer shall pay the several amounts within
ten days after said notification upon the draft of

Proviso.

President and Secretary of the several Boards of
School Commissioners aforesaid; provided, never-
theless, that no payment of said tax shall be made
to any county or the city of Baltimore until after
the organization of the several Boards of School
Commissioners on the second Tuesday of July,
eighteen hundred and sixty-five.

Abatements Ac

Sec. 8. When the levy of any year shall have
been collected, the Comptroller shall apportion
among the several counties and the city of Balti-
more, the amount allowed on the levy for insol-
vencies and abatements, and shall transmit a
statement of the same to the State Superinten-
dent ; and to each county and the city of Balti-
timore, a statement of the amount apportioned
to it.

When repealed

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That from and after
the first day of January, eighteen hundred and
sixty-seven, all the sections of the several Articles
of the Code of Public Local Laws, relating to the
levying of taxes upon the taxable property of the
several counties and cities of the State for school
purposes, be and the same are hereby repealed.

Repealed.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That all the sections
of the several Articles of the Codes of Public
General and Local Laws, relating to schools, in-
consistent with the provisions of this act and all
acts of Assembly passed since the adoption of said
Codes relating to schools, inconsistent with the
provisions of this act, be and the same are hereby
repealed.

To take effect

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That this law shall
take effect from the day of its passage ; provided,
nevertheless, that the schools now in operation
may be continued tinder existing laws until the
thirtieth day of June, eighteen hundred and
sixty-five, and the present County School Authori-
