Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That any mortgage
or deed of the said lot or land executed by the said
corporation of lodge, if signed by the presiding
officer and Secretary thereof, with the corporate
seal attached, and acknowledged according to ex-
isting laws, shall vest in or convey to the mortga-
gee or mortgagees, purchaser or purchasers, a
valid lien or an indefeasable title as the case may
be, against alt parties claiming under and by virtue
of the said deed of said Ellis and wife, and the
articles of association aforesaid.

Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That nothing herein
contained shall authorize the said lodge tor issue
any note, scrip or evidence of debt to be used as
currency.

Sec. 7. And be it enacted, That this act shall
at all time be subject to amendments, alterations
or repeal at the pleasure of the Legislature.

Sec. 8. And be it enacted, That this act shall
go into force and be deemed a law from the date

McAtee, of Washington county, a deaf mute.

WHEREAS, It having, been represented to the
General Assembly of Maryland, that George Wash-
ington McAtee, of Washington county, Mary-
land; a deaf mute, would be much benefitted and
become a useful member of society by a continuance
of his studies; therefore

SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the sum of one hundred and
