LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Wm. T. Alexander, Joseph P. Cantwell Robert
Walmsley and sundry other citizens of Cecil coun-
ty, on or about the third day of July in the year
one thousand eight hundred and fifty-four, in and
by certain articles of association or incorporation,
bearing date on the day and year aforesaid, exe-
cuted in conformity with the provisions of the act
of the General Assembly of Maryland, passed at
January session eighteen hundred and fifty-two,
chapter two hundred and thirty-one, did associate
and form themselves into a society, association or
Lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows,
located and established at Elkton, in Cecil county,
by and under the name, style and title of Cecil
Lodge number sixty-two," Independent Order of
Odd Fellows of Maryland, with certain powers,
privileges and corporate rights thereby acquired
and certain legal restrictions thereby imposed;
and whereas the said named parties under and by
the said corporate name of "Cecil Lodge," number
sixty-two, Independent Order of Odd Fellows of
Maryland, and in conformity with the power and
corporate privileges thus acquired, did become,
seized and possessed of a certain lot of land in the
town of Elkton, under and by virtue of a deed from
Francis A. Ellis and wife, bearing date on the
twenty-ninth day of September eighteen hundred
and fifty-five, and have commenced the erection of
a building upon said lot for the meetings of said
association or lodge and the preservation of the
furniture and property of said lodge, and the
more perfect execution of the benevolent purposes
thereof, to wit the relief of each other and their
respective families in the event of sickness, distress
and death: and whereas, the said parties or mem-
bers of said lodge, believing that the benevolent
purposes and objects of their association can be
more thoroughly carried out by and through the
instrumentality of a more perfect act of incorpora-
tion, have prayed that such an act may be passed
and the Legislature is willing and desirous to
promote such useful and benevolent associations;
therefore,

Incorporated.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the said Robert Marchbank,
Francis A. Ellis, George Ricketts, Palmer C.
Strickland, John A. J. Creswell, Wm. J. Jones,
