CHAP. 57.

CHAPTER 56.

18, 1861.

AN ACT to amend article twenty of the Code of
Public Local Laws, by repealing the ninety-first
section thereof, relating to Jurors in Talbot coun-
ty, and substituting a new section therefor.

Repealed.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the ninety-first section of arti-
cle twenty of the Code of Public. Local Laws be and
the same is hereby repealed, and the following sec-
tion substituted therefor:

Per diem.

SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That each juror sum-
moned on the regular panel of jurors to the Circuit
court of Talbot county, shall be entitled to receive
for each day he shall attend as juror, the sum. of
one dollar and fifty cents, and mileage at the rate
of five cents per mile, for every mile he shall have
necessarily travelled from his residence to the
county town; but such mileage shall hot be allowed
on the return trip to his residence.

In force.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from and after its passage.

 

CHAPTER 57.

21, 1861.

AN ACT to add new sections to the Local Laws of
Worcester county under the head of Oysters.

Not lawful
to catch oys-
ters.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That it shall not be lawful for any per-
son to catch or take away oysters from the waters of
Synnapuxent Bay in Worcester county, between
the last day of April and the first day of Septem-
ber, in any year, nor shall any oysters be taken
from any part of said Bay during that time to
plant in any other part of the waters thereof; nor
shall it be lawful at any time to use rakes or
dredges in taking or catching oysters in said Bay.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That before it shall be
lawful for any one to catch or take oysters from
said Bay, they shall first obtain a written permit
from all the acting Justices of the Peace in District
number three, so to do, which permit shall expire on
the last of April annually, and shall limit the quan-
