MARYLAND, Sc.

Al a Session of the General Assembly of Maryland, begun and

held at the City of Frederick, on Friday, the twenty-sixth

day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight

hundred and sixty-one—His Excellency, THOMAS HOLLIDAY

HICKS, Governor—the following LAWS were enacted, to wit:

CHAPTER 1,

AN ACT to add to the fourth Article of the Code
of Public Local Laws, the following section, em-
powering the Mayor and City Council of Balti-
more to raise and appropriate money for the de-
fence of said city.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That, the following sections be, and
