MR. ALBERT JOHNSON.

Albert Johnson, contractor, was born in Cambridge, Md., 60 years
ago. He is a self-made man, having never attended school a day in
his life. Married Miss Eliza Keene, of Cambridge, 28 years ago.
Came to Baltimore at the age of 35 years, and established a con-
tracting business which is second to none in this city. Has done
work on the Baltimore Bargain House, Maryland Art and Historical
Museum, and built the arches for the Centennial Celebration in
1914.

Mr. Johnson's business is a very prosperous one, employing about
30 or 35 men, and paying to skilled colored laborers from $300 to
$350 weekly. He has three children, Mrs. Alverta Nickens, Lottie
Spriggs and Fred Johnson. Mrs. Spriggs is employed in her fath-
er's office as bookkeeper, and Fred is general manager.

Mr. Johnson is active in many business enterprises and lodges,
and is presdent of the Trustee Board of John Wesley M. E. Church,
of which Dr. Ernest Lyon is pastor. Mr. Johnson is indeed a won-
derful character and deserves great credit for maintaining such a
prosperous business establishment.
