JOSEPH P. EVANS.
Mr. Evans is a great organization
man, who is at present filling many posi-
tions, namely: Grand Master of Masons
for Maryland jurisdiction, member of all
branches of the fraternity; treasurer-
general, H. E., of the Supreme Council
(33rd), A. A. A. S. rite, for the South-
ern jurisdiction. He is also the Supreme
Ruler of the Order of Galilean Fisher-
men of the United States, West Indies
and Panama. He is organizer and presi-
dent of the Colored Barbers' Union, the
only one in the State, and is connected
with many other societies. A believer in
race enterprise, Mr. Evans is the owner
and proprietor of one of the leading cos-
mopolitan shaving parlors in the city. It
was through Grand Master Evans'
efforts that the craft secured the re-
cently acquired $35,000 site for a new-
Masonic Temple. He has traveled ex-
tensively, and to know him is to admire
him, for he is a born hustler.
W. I. BUTLER, JR.
Mr. W. I. Butler, Jr., the manager
of Walters Public Bathhouse, Argyle
Avenue, is one of Baltimore's widely-
known sons, having been a trustee of
Sharp Street Memorial Methodist Epis-
copal Church since he was barely out of
his teens. He is prominently connected
with the Masons and Pythians. We are
pleased to learn through reports how
well the bathhouse is prospering under
his management, and we are sure we
voice the sentiment of the citizens in
wishing him continued success.
