REV. ERNEST LYON.

Rev. Ernest Lyon, pastor of John Wesley Methodist Episcopal
Church, corner Sharp and Montgomery streets, former Minister
Resident and Consul-General of the United States to the Republic
of Liberia for seven and one-half years. At present the Consulate
General of the Republic of Liberia and financial agent of the Caroline
Donovan Normal and Industrial Institute of the Republic of Liberia.

Mr. Lyon is the author of several pamphlets and a volume, en-
titled "Organic Union in the Methodist Episcopal Church from the
View-point of a Negro." He is the editor of the Commonwealth;
a member of the National Educational Association and of several
college fraternities. He is a member of the Masonic Fraternity and
a thirty-third degree Mason. He has hanging and framed upon the
walls of his office many valuable commissions and documents signed
by Presidents, Secretaries of State and other distinguished persons
in official life. Mr. Lyon is public-spirited and responds readily to
the call of his people on all public occasions in which their interest
'S involved.
