SEC. 2 And be it enacted, That any law or laws, or part
or parts of any law or laws, heretofore enacted and affecting
or pertaining to the County Commissioners or roads and
ditches in said Kent County, be and the same are hereby saved
and shall remain in full effect and force, except so far as the
same or any of them may be repealed by or may be inconsis-
tent and in conflict with the provisions of this Act.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That all laws or sections or parts
of all laws conflicting or inconsistent with any provision or
provisions of this Act be and the same are hereby repealed so
far as the same or any of the same conflict or are inconsistent
with any provision or provisions of this Act.
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 312.
AN ACT to .authorize the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Kent
County, Maryland, to copy the general index for deeds and
mortgages and to arrange said index under a different sys-
tem into a new and substantial book from the year 1842 to
1884, inclusive; to make a general index for chattel mort-
gages and bills of sale from the year 1890 to 1910, inclusive;
to make a general index for magistrates' judgments from
the year 1890 to 1910, inclusive; to make a general index for
X marriage licenses from the year 1790 to 1886, inclusive; and
to make a general index for all equity proceedings.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Kent County be
and he is authorized and directed to copy the general index
for deeds and mortgages, and to arrange said index under a
different system into a new book from the year 1842 to 1884,
inclusive; and to make a general index for chattel mortgages
and bills of sale from the year 1890 to 1910, inclusive; and to
make a general index for magistrates' judgments from the year
1890 to 1910, inclusive; and to make a general index for
marriage licenses from the year 1790 to 1886, inclusive; and to
make a general index for all equity proceedings, and to index
each party to said proceedings.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the County Commissioners
of Kent County, Maryland, are required to levy on the assess-
able property of said county a sufficient sum to pay said clerk,
as follows: One cent for each ten words or figures recopied,
