the construction of any cesspool or other receptacle or con-
trivance, or earth pit which he may allege to have polluted his
water supply, may make application to the County Comm-
sioners for an investigation to determine if his water supply is
polluted by the said earth pit, cesspool or other receptacle or
contrivance. If, upon such investigation, such private water
supply shall be found to be polluted by said cesspool, earth pit
or other receptacle or contrivance, the County Commissioners
shall order the use of such cesspool, earth pit or other recep-
tacle or contrivance discontinued. Any person refusing or
neglecting to obey such order of the County Commissioners
shall be liable to the penalty provided by Section'39 for refus-
ing to comply with the rules and regulations of the County
Commissioners as aforesaid.
SEC. 45o. Nothing in the preceding sections shall be con-
strued as limiting or qualifying the right of said County Com:
missioners, constituting the Local Board of Health, to main-
tain proceedings in equity to enjoin the commission, mainte-
nance or continuance of nuisance of any kind affecting health.
SEC. 45p. Nothing in any of the foregoing provisions relat-
ing to the preservation of the public health in Howard County
shall be taken as in any wise repealing or as in substitution for
any provision of the Public General Laws relating to health,
except and only in so far as any of the foregoing sections are
inconsistent therewith.

CHAPTER 276.
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 14 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Howard County,"
subtitle "County Commissioners," as amended by Chapter
452 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of
1892, to follow Section 39, and to be known as Section 39A.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That an additional section be and the same is hereby
ridded to Article 14 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land as amended by Chapter 452 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland of 1892, to follow Section 39, and to be
known as Section 39A, and to read as follows:
SEC. 39A. The County Commissioners of Howard County
shall each receive an annual salary of seven hundred and fifty
dollars ($750), in lieu of all other compensation, per diem or
mileage.
