said county, at a point called Shorter's Wharf, and to levy
taxes on the assessable property of said county to pay for
constructing the same," be and the same is hereby repealed
and re-enacted to read as follows:

1. The County Commissioners of Dorchester County be and
they are hereby authorized and empowered and required to
construct a drawbridge across the Blackwater river, in said
county, at a point called Shorter's Wharf.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 137.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 9 of
Chapter 555 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Mary-
land, passed at the January Session, 1900, entitled "An Act
to Incorporate the Town of Secretary, in Dorchester
County."

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 9 of Chapter 555 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland, passed at its January Session, 1900,
entitled "An Act to Incorporate the Town of Secretary, in Dor-
chester County," be and the same is hereby repealed and re-
enacted with amendments so as to read as follows:

SEC. 9. Be it enacted, That the Commissioners of Secretary
shall have full power from time to time, whenever they shall
deem it advisable, to assess and collect an equal tax on all
property in said town, both real and personal, to such an
amount as may be required to pay the legitimate expenses of
the corporation, and to appoint persons to assess and collect
the same, fix their bond, remuneration and term of office, and
the said collectors shall have the same power to enforce col-
lection by distraint and other process as the regular county
collectors have under the laws of the State, provided such tax
shall not exceed fifty cents on the one hundred dollars of taxa-
ble property for any one year.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
