SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its pasage.

CHAPTER 627.

AN ACT to prohibit the fishing in Fork creek, a tributary of
Severn river, with seine nets, weirs or any other implement
or instrument for fishing, except hook and line.

Whereas, Fork creek is one of the best spawning waters of the
Severn river; and

Whereas, by the hauling of seines, setting of pounds, nets
and weirs during the spawning season, the value of the
spawning grounds in Fork creek has been destroyed; there-
fore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That it shall be unlawful for any person to fish in Fork
creek, a tributary of the Severn river, with any seine net,
weir or other implement or instrument for catching fish, other
than with hook and line, and any person who shall violate the
provisions of this Act within the period of five years shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction before
a Justice of the Peace shall be fined not less than fifty dol-
lars for each offense.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

Magothy river, with seine nets, weirs, or any other imple-
ment or instrument for fishing, except hook and line.

Whereas, Fork creek is one of the best spawning waters of
the Magothy river; and

Whereas, by the hauling of seines, setting of. pound nets and
weirs during the spawning season, the value of the spawning
grounds in Fork creek have been destroyed; therefore,

land, That it shall be unlawful for any person to fish in Fork
creek, a tributary of the Magothy river, with any seine net,
weir or other implement or instrument for catching fish, other
