506 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAPTER 60.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact Section 216 D of Article 1 of
the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Allegany County,"
sub-title "County Commissioners and Roads," as enacted by
the Acts of 1904, Chapter 262, and to re-enact the same with
amendments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 216D of Article 1 of the Code of Public
Local Laws, title "Allegany County," sub-title "County Com-
missioners and Roads," be and the same is hereby repealed,
and said Section 216o is hereby re-enacted with amendments,
to read as follows:

Section 216D. The Allegany County Roads Engineer shall
receive a salary of eighteen hundred dollars annually, in
monthly instalments, and four hundred dollars or so much
thereof as may be necessary to meet the travelling, office and
other expenses, included drawings, specifications, etc., incurred
in the discharge of his duties, which shall be paid by the road
directors as other month expenditures upon presentation of
the account with properly signed vouchers; and the minimum
wages to be paid by the road directors, or by persons engaged
as contractors of road work by the road directors, for labor
on said roads shall be one dollar and seventy-five cents per day
for adult workmen, and all wages shall be determined by the
road directors.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 47.

AN ACT to provide for an annual levy by the Board of County
Commissioners of Allegany County for the purpose of rais-
ing funds for the maintenance of the public schools of said
County, and for the erection of new school building in said
County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Board of County Commissioners of Allegany
County be and they are hereby authorized, empowered, and
required to levy such a tax upon the assessable property of
said County as the Board of School Commissioners of said
County shall designate as proper, to defray the usual and nec-
essary expenses of the public schools of said County; provided,
