394 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAPTER 2.

AN ACT placing at the disposal of the Board of Public Works
of this State, Hon. Jesse D. Price, chairman of the Finance
Committee of the Senate of Maryland, and the Hon. Carville
D. Benson, chairman of the Ways and Means Committee of
the House of Delegates of Maryland, the sum of twenty
thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary,
for the relief of cases of destitution and need caused by the
flood at Port Deposit, Cecil County, of January 23, 1910.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,, That the sum of twenty thousand dollars, or so much
thereof as may be necessary, is hereby placed as a contingent
fund at the disposal of the Board of Public Works of the
State, the Hon. Jesse D. Price, chairman of the Finance Com-
mittee of the Senate, and the Hon. Carville D. Benson, chair-
man of the Ways and Means Committee of the House of Dele-
gates, to be expended by them to such an extent as they may
deem necessary, to relieve cases of destitution and need caused
by the flood in Port Deposit, Cecil County, of January 23, 1910.
And the Board of Public Works and the chairmen of the two
committees above named, in expending the said money for the
purpose aforesaid, shall employ such persons or agencies as
they may think best for successfully relieving those in need.
And the Comptroller of the State is hereby authorized from
time to time to draw his warrants upon the Treasurer of the
State to the order of such persons and in such amounts as the
Board of Public Works and the chairmen of the two committees
above named shall direct, the amounts of said warrants not to
exceed in the aggregate the sum of twenty thousand dollars.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 17.

AN ACT to provide for the retirement of Daniel Girard
Wright, one of the Judges of the Supreme Bench of Balti-
more, Maryland, and Charles F. Holland, one of the Asso-
ciate Judges of the First Judicial Circuit of Maryland, they
having become unable to discharge their duties with effi-
ciency by reason of continued sickness.

Whereas, Daniel Girard Wright has been a member of the
Supreme Bench of Baltimore City since the sixth day of No-
vember, 1888, and has served in that capacity with distin-
guished ability up to the present time, and now, while within
