all other books published by the authority of the State, except
the Maryland Law Reports, and in return therefor shall
transmit a copy of its annual report to the State Library.
SEC. 114. All real estate acquired for the use and benefit
of any library and reading room, established as aforesaid, and
all property that shall be a part of any such library and read-
ing room shall be exempt from all State, county and munici-
pal taxation.
SEC. 114A. Be it enacted, That the provisions of this Act
shall not apply to Baltimore county.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 420.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
122 1/2E of Article 77 of the Code of Public General Laws of
Maryland, entitled "Public Education," as amended by
Chapter 635 of the Acts of 1908, and to add one new sec-
tion to said Article 77, to come in after Section 122 1/2E. and
to be known as 122 1/2F, same being designed to correct an
error in Section 122 1/2oE, as amended by Chapter 635 of the
Acts of 1908, and to require County Superintendents to
classify certain certificates of the teachers in their respect-
ive counties.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted ly the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 122 1/2E of Article 77 of the Code of Public
General Laws of Maryland of 1904, entitled "Public Educa-
tion," as amended by Chapter 635 of the Acts of 1908, be and
the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments;
and that one new section, to be known as Section 1221/2 F, is
hereby added to said Article 77, all of the same to read as
follows:
122 1/2E. That all white teachers regularly employed, hold-
ing a first-class teachers' certificate and having taught for a
period of three years in any of the public schools of the State
of Maryland, shall receive as salary not less than three hun-
dred and fifty dollars ($350) per annum; and provided fur-
ther, that if such teacher hold a first-class teachers' certifi-
cate and has taught in the public schools of Maryland for a
period of five years, he or she shall receive an annual salary of
not less than four hundred dollars ($400) ; and provided fur-
ther, that if a teacher holds a first-class teacher's certificate
and has taught in the public schools of Maryland for a period
of eight years, he or she shall receive as an annual salary not
