SEC. 2. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That this Act shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 605.
AN ACT to pay the claim of Joseph N. Brooks & Son, ship-
builders and proprietors of marine railway, Madison, Dor-
chester County, Maryland, for balance due for extra work
done for the State of Maryland on the two schooners, Anne
B. Smith and Bessie Jones.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Comptroller of the Treasury be and he is hereby
authorized to issue his warrant upon the Treasurer for the
sum of three hundred and forty-four dollars and sixty cents in
favor of Joseph N. Brooks & Son for work done and materials
provided by the order of the State of Maryland on the two
schooners, Anne B. Smith and Bessie Jones, built by the said
Joseph N. Brooks & Son for the State of Maryland in the year
eighteen hundred and ninety-two; provided, however, that
none of the provisions of this bill shall become operative nor
any payment made until first approved by the Board of Public
Works.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 301.
AN ACT to authorize the State Board of Education to pay
Charles A. Thompson, of Howard County, a pension, as pro-
vided in Section 58 of Chapter 605 of the Acts of 1908, for
teachers who served twenty-five years.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the State Board of Education be and it is hereby
authorized and empowered to place the name of Charles A.
Thompson, of Howard County, upon the Teachers' Retired
List, provided for in Section 58 of Chapter 605 of the Acts of
1908, and to certify regularly to the Comptroller of the Treas-
ury of this State the name of the said Charles A. Thompson,
together with the names of the other retired teachers of this
State, and that a pension of two hundred dollars ($200) per
annum paid quarterly to the said Charles A, Thompson by the
