tories situated in the State of Maryland to have the floors of
said factories sprinkled with water daily.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the proprietors or managers of shirt factories in the
State of Maryland be and are hereby required to sprinkle the
floors of said factories every morning with water, and any
proprietor or manager failing to comply with the provisions of
this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon
conviction shall be fined the sum of ten dollars, and cost of
prosecution, for each and every offense, one-half of said fine
to go to the informer, balance to be paid into the treasury of
the State.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 560.


AN ACT to authorize and empower the State Board of Health
to establish five bureaus, under the direction of said board,
to be known as the Bureau of Communicable Diseases, the
Bureau of Bacteriology, the Bureau of Chemistry, the Bu-
reau of Sanitary Engineering, and the Bureau of Vital Sta-
tistics ; to provide for the appointment of a chief and assist-
ant chief for each of said bureaus; to prescribe the duties
and functions of such bureaus, and of the chiefs, assistant
chiefs and employees thereof; to provide an annual appro-
priation for the maintenance of such bureaus, and for other
purposes connected with the better preservation of public
health by adding nine additional sections to Article 43 of
the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland of 1904, title
"Health," sub-title "State Registrar of Vital Statistics;"
said sections to follow immediately after Section 21 of said
Article 43, and to be known as Sections 2lA, 21B, 21c. 2lD,
21E, 21F, 21G, 21s and 211.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the following additional sections be and they are
hereby added to Article 43 of the Code of Public General Laws
of Maryland of 1904, title "Health," sub-title "State Registrar
of Vital Statistics," to follow immediately after Section 21 of
said Article and to be known as Sections 2lA, 21B, 21C, 21D.
21E, 21F, 21G, 21H and 21I.

2lA. The State Board of Health is authorized and empow-
ered to establish five bureaus, to be known as the Bureau of
