thought necessary for doing greater honor to such graduates,
shall also be signed with the names of the President or Trus-
tees and the different Professors, or as many of them as can
conveniently sign the same; provided, always, that no student
or students within the said College shall ever be admitted to
any such degree or degrees, or have their names inserted in any
mandate for a degree, until such students have been duly ex-
amined and judged worthy of the same at a public examina-
tion; and provided further, that no person or persons, except
the students of said College, shall ever be admitted to any
honorary or other degree or degrees of the same, unless a ma-
jority of the whole number of the Trustees, by a mandate under
their privy seal and signed by the hands of said majority of the
Trustees to the President and Professors directed, having sig-
nified their approbation and authority for the particular ad-
mission of said person or persons to said degree or degrees.

SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That the said Trustees
and their successors, from time to time, and at all times here-
after forever, shall have full power to constitute and appoint,
in such manner as they think best and most convenient, aPresi-
dent of the said College and Professors, with proper Tutors
and Assistants, for instructing the students and scholars in
said College in all the liberal arts and sciences, and agricul-
ture, and in the ancient and modern languages, who shall be
severally styled Professors of such arts, sciences, languages, as
they shall be nominated and appointed for according to each
particular nomination and appointment, and the said Presi-
dent and Professors so constituted and appointed from time
to time shall be known and distinguished forever as one
learned body or faculty, by the name of the President and Pro-
fessors of the said "The Blue Ridge College," and in that name
shall be capable of exercising such powers and authorities as
the Trustees of the said College and their successors shall by
their ordinances think necessary to delegate to them for the
instruction, discipline and government of said College.

SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That the said Trustees
and their successors shall meet at least once in every year, in
stated annual meeting, to be appointed by their own ordi-
nances, and at such other times as by their said ordinances
they may direct, in order to examine the progress of students
and scholars in literature, to hear and determine upon all com-
plaints and appeals, and determine on all matters touching
the discipline of the said college and the good and wholesome
execution of their ordinances, in all of which examinations,
meetings and determinations a majority in number of the trus-
tees duly met shall be a quorum.
