General Assembly of Maryland of 1908, by adding an addi-
tional section extending the powers of the United States
Fidelity and Guaranty Company and increasing the number
of directors of said company.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the charter of the United States Fidelity and Guar-
anty Company, as said charter was enacted by Chapter 52 of
the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1896, and as
amended by Chapter 188 of the Acts of the General Assembly
of Maryland of 1898, and by Chapter 261 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland of 1900, and by Chapter 86 of
the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1902, and by
Chapter 298 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland
of 1908, be and the same is hereby amended by adding three
additional sections to follow Section 14A and to be known as
Sections 14B, 14c and 14D, and to read as follows:
SEC. 14. That the said company may carry on and conduct
authorized and empowered to make insurance against accidents
of any nature or description and to make insurance against
liability for negligence and torts of any nature and description.
SEC. 14c. That the said company may carry on and conduct
the business of inspecting boilers, engines and mechanical appli-
ances and machinery of all kinds at such rate of compensation,
if any, as may be agreed upon between the said company and
the person for whom such inspection shall be made.
SEC. 16A. And be it enacted, That the said company shall
be, and is hereby authorized and empowered to increase the
number of its directors from twenty-four to thirty, and the
stockholders may elect at their annual meeting or at any spe-
cial meeting called for that purpose a Board of Directors not
to exceed thirty in number.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That this Act shall take effect from the date of its
passage.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 2 of
Chapter 82 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland
passed at the Session of 1908, entitled "An Act to Amend
the Charter of the Society for the Protection of Children of
Baltimore City, a body incorporated under the General Laws
of Maryland.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
