PRIVATE ACTS. 1233

Whereas, The said corporation has acquired, in pursuance and
exercise of the authority aforesaid, and has now in use, cer-
tain lands in Baltimore City and certain other lands situate
in Baltimore county for the purposes aforesaid; and

Whereas, Certain doubts have arisen as to the rights of the
said corporation and its privileges, powers and immunities
in the premises, as conferred by the legislation aforesaid, and
it is reasonable and proper that such doubts should be re-
moved, and the said rights, privileges, powers and immunities
determined and declared.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the trustees of the Catholic Cathedral Church of
Baltimore, and their corporate successors be and they hereby
are authorized and declared to hold all lands heretofore con-
veyed to them or for their benefit, for the purpose of a burial
ground, whether in Baltimore City or in Baltimore county, and
not heretofore aliened or conveyed by the said corporation,
with a clear title thereto in fee simple or otherwise, according
to the conveyance thereof to the said corporation.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the said corporation
be and it is hereby authorized and empowered to acquire, from
time to time, by purchase or otherwise, and according to law,
and to hold lands in Baltimore City or in Baltimore county to
such extent as may be needed in the judgment of a majority of
its board of trustees for the time being, for the purposes of a
burial ground as aforesaid; provided that the lands so acquired
and held, together with those held by or for it for the purposes
aforesaid, at the time of such acquisition, shall not exceed, in
the aggregate, two hundred acres.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the said corporation
shall hold, possess, exercise and enjoy all rights, powers, privi-
leges and immunities with respect to all of the lands so ac-
quired or now held by it, wheresoever situate, as are conferred
upon it by Chapter 384 of the Acts of Assembly of the year
1845, entitled "An Act for the benefit of the Trustees of the
Catholic Cathedral Church of Baltimore," with respect to the
lands therein mentioned, or which are conferred upon the said

corporation by any other Act of Assembly or conferred upon
corporations owning cemeteries by any general law of this
State, with respect to the lands thereby affected; provided the
same shall not be inconsistent with the corporate purposes of
the said corporation.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That if, at any time, in
the judgment of a majority of the board of trustees of the said

corporation for the time being, any portion of the lands so ac-
