CHAPTER 20.
AN ACT to authorize and empower the County Commissioners
of Somerset County to borrow money on the credit of said
county for the purpose of erecting a High School Building
in the town of Crisfield, and heating, furnishing and equip-
ping the same, and to issue bonds for the payment of said
money, and to levy taxes upon the assessable property of said
county to redeem such bonds and to pay the interest thereon.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That for the purpose of erecting a High School Building
in the town of Crisfield on the lot now owned by the Board of
County School Commissioners of Somerset County, and for the
purpose of heating, furnishing and equipping such building, the
County Commissioners of Somerset County be and they are
hereby authorized and empowered to borrow money on the
credit of said county, to an amount not exceeding twenty-five
thousand dollars, and to issue coupon bonds therefor, said
bonds to be in sums of one thousand dollars each, and to be
signed by the president of the Board of County Commis-
sioners of Somerset County, and countersigned by the clerk of
said board, with the corporate seal of said County Commis-
sioners attached to every bond so issued; said bonds to be
dated the first of April, nineteen hundred and ten, and to bear
interest at a rate not exceeding four and one-half per cent, per
annum, payable semi-annually on the first day of April and
the first day of October, in each and every year, until the ma-
turity thereof.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That if the said County Commis-
sioners shall issue bonds as authorized by this Act, that the said
bonds shall mature as follows: One thousand dollars thereof in
the year nineteen hundred and twenty-five, and annually there-
after the sum of one thousand dollars in every year until all
of said bonds shall be matured and shall have been paid; and
that when any of said bonds shall be paid It shall be the duty
of the said County Commissioners to immediately destroy the
same, and should the said County Commissioners or any person
having charge and custody of said bonds or the coupons there-
from suffer the same or any part thereof to be reissued after
payment, the party or parties so offending shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall be subject to prosecution
under Article 27 of the Code of Public General Laws of Mary-
land for embezzlement, and shall be held liable for an amount
equal to that of the bonds or coupons reissued and the costs of
the suit.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said County Commis-
sioners are hereby authorized to sell the bonds by this Act
