1056 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAPTER 425.

AN ACT to fix the number and to limit and determine the term
of office of the County Commissioners for Queen Anne's
County that shall hereafter be elected or appointed; to per-
petuate the succession to said office; to fix the compensation
therefor; and to repeal all Acts or parts of Acts so far as
the same are inconsistent with the provisions of this Act.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That at the general election to be held on the first Tuesday
after the first Monday of November, in the year nineteen hun-
dred and eleven, there shall be elected three County Commission-
ers for Queen Anne's County, and thereafter the .number of
County Commissioners for said Queen Anne's County shall be
three, and there shall be elected at every general election held on
the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November in every
second year thereafter three County Commissioners for Queen
Anne's County, and the County Commissioners so elected shall
hold their office for the term of two years from the date of their
election, or until their successors shall be elected and qualified,
and they shall be eligible for re-election.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That in case of the death, removal
or resignation of any County Commissioner during the term of
his office, the Governor shall have the power to fill the vacancy
until the next general election.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the County Commissioners
for Queen Anne's County shall meet as often as they may deem
necessary; provided that they shall hold not less than one
meeting in each week; and each of said County Commissioners
shall receive for his services such per diem and mileage as are
now allowed by law; provided that no County Commissioner
shall receive in any one year as such compensation a sum ex-
ceeding four hundred dollars.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That all Acts or parts of Acts in-
consistent with the provisions of this Act be and the same are
hereby repealed.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
