and to levy said amount on the assessable property of said
county.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Queen Anne's County
be and they are hereby authorized, empowered and directed to
grant a pension of fifty dollars annually to James H. Sparks,
of said county; said pension of fifty dollars to be paid in quar-
terly instalments of twelve dollars and fifty cents each during
his natural life; and to levy said sum of fifty dollars, current
money, upon the assessable property of said county, and said
pension shall be paid to James H. Sparks.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 582.
AN ACT to enable the County Commissioners of Queen Anne's
County to borrow upon the faith and credit of said county
a sum not exceeding fifteen thousand dollars and to issue
and sell coupon bonds therefor, to provide funds for the pur-
pose of purchasing teams, carts, wagons and other machinery
and implements to be used on the roads in Queen Anne's
County, and to provide for the levy and collection of taxes to
meet the interests and principals of said bonds as same shall
become due.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That for the purpose of purchasing teams, carts, wagons
and other machinery and implements to be used for working
the roads in Queen Anne's County, the County Commissioners
for Queen Anne's County are hereby authorized in their dis-
cretion to borrow upon the credit of Queen Anne's County an
amount not exceeding fifteen thousand dollars and to issue
coupon bonds therefor in sums not less than five hundred dol-
lars and not more than one thousand dollars each, to be signed
by the President of the Board of County Commissioners for
said county, and to be countersigned by the clerk of said board,
with the seal of said county attached; said bonds shall bear
interest at the rate of five per cent, per annum, payable semi-
annually on the first days of January and July in each and
every year, until said bonds are paid. Said bonds shall be ex-
empt from taxation in Queen Anne's County and the munici-
palities thereof, and shall have printed on them a distinct refer-
ence to this Act, directing their issue, and the money arising
