to the Comptroller and pay to the treasurer of the State the
several sums of money which he shall receive for the State,
or be answerable for by law, at such time as the law shall
direct, then the said obligation shall be void, otherwise to be
and remain in full force and virtue in law; the said county
treasurer's bond as collector of county taxes, when approved
by the County Commissioners, shall be recorded in the office
of the Clerk of the Circuit Court for said county; and the said
county treasurer's bond as collector of State taxes, when ap-
proved by the Governor, shall be filed in the office of the
Comptroller of the Treasury.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1st, 1918.

CHAPTER 483.
AN ACT to amend the Charter of Westminster by adding two
new sections to Article 7 of the Code of Public Local Laws,
title "Carroll County," sub-title "Westminster," as amended
by Chapter 341 of the Acts of the General Assembly of
Maryland, passed at its January Session in the year 1910,
to follow Section 223, to be designated as Sections 223A
and 223B, authorizing a special tax levy for procuring equip-
ment for the Fire Company and increasing its power of emi-
nent domain.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That two new sections are hereby added to Article 7 of
the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Carroll County," sub-
title "Westminster," as amended by Chapter 341 of the Acts
of 1910, to follow after Section 223 of said Chapter 341, to be
designated as Sections 223A and 223B, to read as follows:
Section 223-A. The Mayor and Common Council of West-
minster, is authorized to purchase a motor fire truck, fire engine,
or any other fire equipment, it deems advisable for the use of
the Volunteer Fire Department of Westminster, and to provide
for the payment thereof by levying a special tax, not to exceed
five cents on the one hundred dollars, on all property within
the corporate limits of Westminster liable to assessment and
taxation, and by resolution or ordinance, pledge and devote the
revenue derived from said tax, as security for the payment of
