CHAPTER 353.
AN ACT to authorise and empower the County Commission-
ers of Calvert County to levy for the construction of a
bridge over Huntingtown branch, on the road leading from
the State Road to Parran Postoffice in said County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Calvert County be
and they are hereby authorized and empowered to levy a sum
sufficient to erect and construct a bridge over the Huntingtown
branch, on the road leading from the State Road to Parran
Postoffice, in said County.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is here-
by declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public safety, and being passed
upon a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of all the
members elected to each of the two Houses of the General
Assembly, the same shall take effect from the date of its
passage.

CHAPTER 354.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments, Sections
626 and 630 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land, title "Crimes and Punishments," sub-title "III.
Places of Reformation and Punishments," sub-head "The
State Board of Prison Control," as the »ame were enacted by
Chapter 556 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Mary-
land of 1916, the said sections as thus amended relating to
the establishment "of a system of labor for prisoners to super-
sede the present system of contract labor in the Maryland
Penitentiary and the Maryland House of Correction.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 626 and 630 of Article 27 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland, title "Crimes and Punishments,"
sub-title "III. Places of Reformation and Punishments," sub-
head "The State Board of Prison Control," as the same were
enacted by Chapter 556 of the Acts of the General Assembly
of Maryland of 1916, be and the same hereby are, respectively,
repealed and re-enacted with amendments, so as to read as fol-
lows:
