49. Whenever the City Collector shall have distrained
or levied upon any goods or chattels in said city for
non-payment of any taxes, State or municipal, due by the
owner thereof, before making sale of property so distrained or
levied upon, said City Collector shall give notice by advertise-
ment published twice a week for one week prior to the day of
sale, and also on the day of sale, in three of the daily news-
papers published in said city, that he will sell for cash, at public
auction, to the highest bidder, on the day and at the time and
place mentioned in said advertisement, the property therein
specified, unless on or before the day of sale the entire amount
of taxes for which such distraint or levy shall have been made,
with the interest thereon, and costs of making said levy and
advertisement, shall be paid.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1918.

CHAPTER 352.
AN ACT to authorize the State Roads Commission of Mary-
land to construct and maintain as a part of the State Roads
System a highway over the present road from Prince Fred-
erick to Adelina, in the Second Election District of Calvert
County.
WHEREAS, the proposed improved road is a United States
Mail Route, in extent about six miles long; and,
WHEREAS, the section to be improved by the proposed im-
proved road is well populated and the land highly productive,
but the lack of an adequate road or highway precludes the
farmers in that section from raising and marketing food crops
on an extensive scale.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the State Roads Commission of Maryland be and it
is hereby authorized and directed to construct and maintain
as a part of the State Roads System of Maryland a highway
over the public road leading from Prince Frederick to Adelina,
in the Second Election District of Calvert County, said work
of construction to be begun as soon as practicable after this
Act goes into effect.
