CHAPTER 254.
AN ACT to add an additional section to the Act of 1902,
Chapter 160, as amended by the Act of 1904, Chapter 384,
entitled "An Act to create and establish the State Board of
Undertakers of Maryland, and to prescribe the powers and
duties of said Board," to be known as Section 8A, and to
follow immediately after Section 8, Section 8A to provide
for the issuing of certificates to assistants or employees of
licensed undertakers.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That an additional section be, and it is hereby, added to
the Act of 1902, Chapter 160, as amended by the Act of
1904, Chapter 384, entitled "An Act to create and establish
the State Board of Undertakers of Maryland, and to prescribe
the powers and duties of said Board," to be known as Section
8A, and to follow immediately after Section 8, said Section
8A to provide for the issuing of certificates to assistants or
employees of licensed undertakers, to wit:
Section 8A. Any person, copartnership or corporation
licensed to carry on the business of undertaking in the City of
Baltimore, may, by filing with the State Board of Undertakers
of Maryland an application setting forth the name and address
of any person or persons desired as an employee or assistant,
and that said person or persons is or are of good moral char-
acter, and possessed of reasonable skill and knowledge of said
business, and upon the payment of a fee of five dollars for each
person so named as said assistant or employee, secure a cer-
tificate or certificates, which certificate or certificates shall be
issued by the Secretary of the said State Board of Under-
takers of Maryland during the interim of the meetings of said
Board, and which said certificate or certificates shall authorize
the person or persons so named to act as an employee or assist-
ant only to a person, copartnership or corporation licensed to
carry on the business of undertaking in the City of Baltimore,
and only until the first day of May next succeeding the grant-
ing of said certificate. No person named in such certificate
shall be entitled to any renewal of the same. Provided, how-
ever, that nothing in this section shall be construed as pre-
venting the person named as employee or assistant in said
certificate from applying to the said State Board of Under-
takers of Maryland for a license to engage in the business of
