SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 1 and 5 of Chapter 399 of the Laws of
1914 entitled "An act to provide for the repairs of the Public
Roads of Calvert County,'' be and the same is hereby repealed
and re-enacted to read as follows:
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That on or before the first Mon-
day in April 1922 and on or before the first Monday in April
every 4 years thereafter the County Commissioners for Calvert
County, shall appoint three well known and competent taxpay-
ers and the three men so appointed shall constitute a commis-
sion to be styled the Road Commission of Calvert County and
they shall hold office for 4 years from date of their appointment
or until their successors are appointed and qualified as herein
provided, and in case of a vacancy occurring by death or other-
wise, the vacancy shall be filled by the County Commissioners
and until the first Monday in June, 1922, Benjamin Parran,
Reverdy U. King and James C. Chaney be, and they are hereby
appointed the Road Commissioners of Calvert County with
power and authority to perform all the duties required of the
Road Commission of Calvert County
SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the said Road Commission
shall each receive the sum of two hundred dollars per Annum,
to be paid by the County Commissioners of Calvert County.

CHAPTER 244.
AN ACT to increase the salary of the Court Stenographer of
the Second Judicial Circuit of Maryland, and direct the time
of paying the same.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the salary of the Court Stenographer of the Second
Judicial Circuit of Maryland, be, and the same Is hereby, in-
creased in the amount of Ten dollars per month in each of the
five Counties of said Judicial Circuit: namely, Cecil, Kent,
Queen Anne, Caroline and Talbot, and that said increase in
salary shall be paid monthly by each of said Counties, beginning
on the first day of June, Nineteen hundred and eighteen, pro-
vided that the said increase of salary provided for by this Act
shall be payable only to a person who has served as a Court
Stenographer for at least five years.
