SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all Acts and parts
of Acts inconsistent with this Act be and the same are hereby
repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.

CHAPTER 220.
AN ACT to provide for the general indexing of the Land, Mort-
gage, Equity, Judgment and Magistrate Judgment Records of
Howard County from the year 1840 to the year 1918 accord-
ing to the most approved modern system in vogue.

CHAPTER 221.
AN ACT to authorize the State Roads Commission of Mary-
land, immediately to construct the National Defense Highway,
from Annapolis to Washington, as laid out under the pro-
visions of Chapter 706 of the Acts of the General Assembly
of Maryland, 1916; to authorize it to use the Federal Aid
money under the Act of Congress allotted to the State of
Maryland for road construction, if applicable, and now in
their hands, but if not, a sufficient amount to be supplied out
of the surplus general funds of the fiscal year 1918, or that
of special funds for the same year, and if not supplied from
such funds to be first contributed from any other Act of this
present Assembly passed relating to the maintenance or con-
struction of State Roads in Maryland, and said construction
work to be commenced at Camp Parole in Anne Arundel
County, and at Bladensburg in Prince George's County, at the
same time, at which points there are State roads, the one
working westward and the other eastward until they unite at
some point on the line as designated in the said Act of 1916,
Chapter 706, and further, if there be a gap or gaps between
both sections of the road construction , that the money to
fill in the one or all, be supplied from the surplus of general
funds or that of special funds for the year 1918, or from
t the proceeds of any act of the Assembly of 1918, making ap-
propriations for State Road Construction.
