days, and all savings accounts and certificates of deposit, which
are subject to not less than thirty days' notice before payment.
62-C. Notwithstanding anything in this Article contained,
any banking institution which is a member of the Federal Re-
serve System, shall not be required to keep any reserve or re-
serves other than those required and prescribed for banking
institutions which are members of said Federal Reserve Sys-
tem.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect on and after the first day of June, 1918.

CHAPTER 34,

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sections
283 and 285 of Article 3 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland, passed at Session of 1910, title "Baltimore
County, " sub-title "Jail and Jail Warden. "

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 283 and 285 of Article 3 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland, passed at the Session of
1910, title "Baltimore County, " sub-title "Jail and Jail War-
den, " be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted with

amendments to read as follows:

Section 283. The warden shall appoint a deputy warden,
to be paid a compensation by the County Commissioners of
Baltimore County of ninety dollars per month, and he may ap-
point such watchman and assistants as the said Commissioners
may in writing direct, to be paid a compensation by said Com-
missioners of not less than two and one-half dollars per day;
the County Commissioners shall furnish the jail building, in-
cluding the dwelling part thereof, with all necessary fuel and
all requisite food and supplies for the prisoners confined in
the jail, and the warden shall have the same cooked and pre-
pared for such prisoners; the warden shall have the right to
require the requisite manual work about the prison building
and premises to be done by the prisoners; but no unconvicted
prisoner shall be compelled to do any work against his will,
beyond taking care of his or her own cell.

Section 285. The warden of the jail shall hold his posi-
tion for the term of two years, unless sooner removed by the
