taught in the public schools of the State of Maryland for a
period of eight years, such teacher shall receive a salary of not
less than eight hundred dollars ($800. 00) per school year.
And the Board of Education of Anne Arundel County is here-
by directed and required to pay the salaries of all teachers em-
ployed in Anne Arundel County, monthly, on the last day of
each month.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That principals of
rural schools in Anne Arundel County not employing an assist-
ant shall be entitled to an increase of salary as follows: In
such schools where the daily average attendance is over fifteen
pupils and less than twenty-five, an increase of five dollars
($5. 00) for each month; where the daily average attendance is
over twenty-five and less than thirty-five, an increase of ten
dollars ($10. 00) for each month; where the daily average is
over thirty-five and less than forty, an increase of fifteen dol-
lars ($15. 00) for each month.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That at their annual
levy term in the year 1918, and at each annual levy
term thereafter, the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel
County shall levy such an amount as will be sufficient, together
with the revenue received by the Board of County School Com-
missioners of Anne Arundel County from the State of Mary:
land, to pay the salaries of said teachers as provided in this
Act, and it is hereby made the duty of the Board of County
School Commissioners of said Anne Arundel County to fur-
nish to the said County Commissioners, before the beginning
of said levy, a list showing the names of all teachers employed
during the past year, and that are expected to be employed
during the ensuing year, as nearly as practicable, the school
where employed and the salary to be paid each, as a guide to
them in determining the amount to be levied for said purpose,
which said amount so levied shall be paid over to said Board
of County School Commissioners by the Treasurer of the
County in equal monthly installments on or before the last day
of each month, so as to be available for the payment of the
salaries to the teachers when the same become due. And it is
hereby made the further duty of the Board of County School
Commissioners of Anne Arundel County, and it is hereby di-
rected and required to appropriate from and set aside out of
the monies received from the State of Maryland in quarterly
distribution, other than the School Book Fund, and immedi-
ately upon receipt thereof, such an amount as may be neces-
