ments; authorizing and directing the County Treasurer, with
the approval of the County Commissioners, to designate
certain banks in said County where State and County taxes
may be paid in lieu of the attendance of the County Treas-
urer in certain districts at certain times.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 136 of Article 16 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Montgomery County, " sub-title
"County Commissioners, " according to Chapter 790 of the
Acts of 1912, be and the same is hereby repealed and re-en-
acted so as to read as follows:

Section 136. Immediately upon the first Monday of July,
in the year 1918, and each and every year thereafter, he shall,
with the advice, consent and approval of the County Commis-
sioners, cause to be designated certain banking institutions of
the County, where all persons, firms or corporations may pay
taxes, under such rules and regulations as the County Com-
missioners may approve and adopt for the convenience of the
taxpayers. That the Treasurer shall cause a copy of the list
of such banking institutions to be published in the County
newspapers where taxes may be paid and a similar notice shall
be attached to, or printed on the back of, each bill so rendered
or sent out as hereinbefore provided. That said banking in-
stitutions shall make a prompt report on the first Monday of
each month of its collections, said collections to be subject to
the order of the Treasurer, and no compensation shall be al-
lowed said banking institutions for such services.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect on the 1st day of July, 1918.

CHAPTER 28.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Chapter 188
of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1912,
as amended by Chapter 37 of the Acts of 1916, regulating
the salaries of school teachers in Anne Arundel County,
Maryland, and to provide for the levy by the County Com-
missioners of said county for the funds necessary to provide
for the payment of said salaries.
