Ohio Railroad Company, its successors and assigns, a certain
strip or parcel of land at Bridewell, Anne Arundel County,
Maryland, containing 1. 5 acres of land, more or less, at and
for the price and sum of three hundred and seventy-five
dollars ($375. 00).
WHEREAS, For the purpose of providing freight and pas-
senger transportation for the government, during the existing
emergency, to Camp Meade, in Anne Arundel County, Mary-
land, it became necessary for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad
Company to acquire additional land for trackage accommoda-
tion and a portion of the land belonged to the State of Mary-
land as part of the property of the House of Correction under
the control of the State Board of Prison Control; and
WHEREAS, In recognition of the necessity for immediate ac-
tion in the public interest, the State Board of Prison Control
agreed to sell the strip of land hereinafter described unto the
Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company for the sum of three
hundred and seventy-five dollars ($375. 00) and to give imme-
diate possession thereof to said Railroad Company on payment
of the purchase price, and to convey the same when authority
therefor should be granted by the Legislature of the State of
Maryland; and
WHEREAS, The said railroad company has fully paid unto
the said the State Board of Prison Control the said purchase
price of three hundred and seventy-five dollars ($375. 00); and
has taken possession of said land and laid its tracks thereon
and is now using the same for its railway purposes, and there
remains nothing unfilled as to said understanding except the
grant of the land; and
WHEREAS, The State Board of Prison Control is without au-
thority to convey said land and desires that authority be con-
ferred, therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the State of Maryland, through the State Board of
Prison Control, a body corporate of the State of Maryland,
be, and it is hereby empowered and authorized to convey to
the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company, its successors and
assigns, by a good and sufficient deed, in fee simple, in consid-
eration of the payment by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad
Company and receipt by said the State Board of Prison Con-
trol of the sum of three hundred and seventy-five dollars
