SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That sections 168, 171, 174, 177 and 183 of Article 12 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Garrett
County", sub-title "Oakland", as said sections were repealed
and re-enacted by Chapter 343 of Acts of 1892 and by Chapter
25 of the Acts of 1898 and by Chapter 359 of Acts of 1906, Sec-
tion 195A as enacted by Chapter 343 of Acts of 1892 and re-
pealed and re-enacted by Chapter 25 of Acts of 1898, and Sec-
tions 195B and 195E as enacted by Chapter 25 of Acts of 1898,
be and the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amend-
ments, and certain new sections be and are hereby added to said
Article 12 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title
"Garrett County", sub-title "Oakland", one of said sections
to follow immediately after Section 170 and to be designated
and numbered Section 170A, the other to follow immediately
after Section 187 and to be designated and numbered as Sec-
tion 187A, the whole to read as follows:
168. The officers of said corporation shall be a Mayor, a
Town Council, which shall be composed of six members, a Presi-
dent of the Town Council, a Town Clerk, a Treasurer, a Tax
Collector, a Police Magistrate, an Attorney, a Weighmaster, a
Street Commissioner, a Bailiff and such number of Policemen
as the public welfare of said town may require, who shall sev-
erally perform such duties and have such powers as may be
prescribed by law and the ordinances passed in pursuance there-
of. The Mayor and members of the Town Council, Treasurer,
Tax Collector and Bailiff shall be elected by the voters of said
town. The Town Clerk, and Street Commissioner shall be
elected by the Town Council, the Police Magistrate, Attorney,
Weighmaster and Policemen, shall be appointed by the Mayor,
by and with the advice and consent of the Town Council. All
officers elected by the Town Council or appointed by the Mayor
shall hold their respective office for one year from the first
Monday of April in the year for which they are appointed and
until their successors are elected and qualified.
170A. That at the election of municipal officers of the town
of Oakland to be held in. said town on the second Monday in
March 1919, and every year thereafter, a Tax Collector, a Treas-
urer and a Bailiff shall be elected by the qualified voters of said
town, and which said officers shall hold office for the term of
one year from the first Monday in April for the year for which
they are elected and until their successors are elected and
qualified, and shall be subject to removal from office at any time
