the General Assembly of Maryland of 1906, be and the same is
hereby repealed and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
97G. The Mayor and Council are hereby authorized and
empowered to borrow, on the faith and credit of the town, and
for the use of the town, any sum or sums of money not exceed-
ing in the aggregate one-half of one per centum of the
total value of the assessable property within the limits of
the town of Easton, and may issue bonds or other evidence
of indebtedness for the same, and in such sums and pay-
able at such time as they may by ordinance prescribe; pro-
vided, that the payment of said bonds or other evidences of
indebtedness issued under authority of this section and the
interest thereon must be made by the Mayor and Council from
the general taxes levied for the use of the town under the
power in this Act conferred, the levying or collecting any spe-
cial tax for the payment of such bonds or other evidences of
indebtedness being expressly prohibited.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from an after June 1, 1918.

CHAPTER 135.
AN ACT to repeal Section 41 of Article 54 of the Code
(Bagby's) of Public General Laws of Maryland, title "Land
Office, " sub-title "Commissioner of the Land Office: His
Powers and Duties, " and to reenact the same with amend-
ments.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 41 of Article 54 of the Code (Bagby's) of
Public General Laws of Maryland, title "Land Office, " sub-
title "Commissioner of the Land Office; His Powers and
Duties, " be and the same is hereby repealed and reenacted so
as to read as follows:
41 If a certificate of survey shall be returned within the
time herein prescribed and shall be found to be correct, and
the whole composition or purchase money has been paid, and
such certificate has lain six months in the land office and
no caveat has been entered thereto within said period of six
months, the same shall not thereafter be permitted to be en-
