the General Assembly of Maryland, by the Act of 1898,
Chapter 90, as amended by the Act of 1902, Chapter 60.
WHEREAS, Certain industrial schools are established and
maintained as institutions to which boys and young men are
committed as punishment for crime, to such an extent that the
use of the word "Industrial" in connection with the word
"School, " to many persons, conveys the idea of an institution
of that character; and
WHEREAS, The Buckingham Industrial School of Frederick
County, Maryland, has never been an institution for
the commitment of offenders, for punishment, but a corpora-
tion to receive in charge, instruct and teach, orphans and other
boys apprenticed, bound and entrusted to it; so that the word
industrial in its corporate name has become objectionable and
misleading; therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the name of the "Buckingham Industrial School of
Frederick County, Maryland, " incorporated by the General
Assembly of Maryland, by Chapter 90 of the Acts passed at
its session of 1898, as amended by Chapter 60 of the Acts
passed at its session of 1902, be and the same is hereby changed
to "Buckingham School of Frederick County, Maryland, "
which is hereby fixed and established as the corporate name of
said corporation; which said corporation, by the said name of
"Buckingham School of Frederick County, Maryland, " shall
have and hold all the property, enjoy all the rights and exer-
cise all the powers and functions which were heretofore pos-
sessed by, or conferred upon, the said corporation under and
by its former name of "Buckingham Industrial School of
Frederick County, Maryland; " and shall hold, in like manner
all property or estate which it shall acquire, by will or other-
wise, under the said change of title 'hereby made.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the Mayor and City Coun-
cil of Cumberland to close King Street between the East
side of Boundary Lane and the West side of Canal Street,
and Trenton Avenue between King Street and Federal
Street, and Boundary Lane between King Street and Federal
