SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That it shall not be lawful for any person or persons to
lash or beat the waters within the limits of Queen Anne's
county with rods, poles, oars or anything else, or to make
noises on the deck of any boat, or on any part of any boat, or
by any other instrument or means, or in any other manner, for
the purpose of driving fish into any seine, gill net, fike, fish
basket or any other contrivance for catching fish.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That any person violating any of
the provisions of the preceding section shall be deemed guilty of
a misdemeanor, and on conviction thereof before some justice of
the peace in Queen Anne's county shall be fined by said justice
of the peace not less than one or more than fifty dollars, and
shall stand committed to the county jail until such fine and
costs are paid; provided, however, that any person so convicted
shall have the right to appeal from the judgment of said jus-
tice of the peace to the Circuit Court for Queen Anne's county.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 531.
AN ACT to provide for the building of a jail, sheriff's residence
and stable in Queen Anne's county, Maryland, and to au-
thorize, empower and direct the County Commissioners of
Queen Anne's county to contract for and superintend the
building of same, and to authorize, empower and direct the
said County Commissioners of Queen Anne's county to bor-
row money on the credit of said county for the purpose of
building the same, to issue bonds for the payment of same,
and to levy taxes on the assessable property of said county
to redeem such bonds and to pay the interest thereon.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Queen Anne's county
be and they are hereby authorized, empowered and directed to
contract for and to build a jail, sheriff's residence and stable
upon the public ground in the town of Centreville, in Queen
Anne's county, Maryland, either where the present jail is now
located or in the rear of the present courthouse, and to super-
intend the construction thereof, and to furnish and equip the
said jail, when so constructed, with such things as convenience
may require; which jail, sheriff's residence and stable shall be
built by contract with the lowest responsible bidder therefor,
