jail for a period of not more than six months, or be both fined
and imprisoned, at the discretion of the court, and if fined only,
shall stand committed until the fines and costs are paid; the
fines to be paid to the county treasurer for the benefit of the
county.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the- members of the said
Auditing Committee shall be allowed for their services in
auditing the accounts of the boards and officers named in this
Act the sum of three dollars per day each, together with such
expenses for printing, stationery and incidental expenses as the
judges of the Circuit Court for Queen Anne's county may deem
proper to be paid, together with the costs, if any, of summoning
witnesses and of witness fees, by the County Commissioners
of Queen Anne's county, and they shall file their account as
such Committee on or before September first in each year; pro-
vided, however, that the total expenses of said Auditing Com-
mittee, including per diem, printing, summoning of witnesses
and any and all other expenses whatsoever, for any one fiscal
year, shall not exceed the sum of three hundred dollars.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the said several boards and
officers are directed and required, when requested by said Audi-
ting Committee or any member thereof, to lay before the said
Auditing Committee all books, accounts, vouchers and other
papers relating to the receipt and disbursement of the public
funds in their hands or subject to their control; and the said
several boards and officers shall in every way expedite and
facilitate the work of the said Auditing Committee, to the end
that the true financial status and condition of the said several
boards and officers, and of Queen Anne's county, may be fully
and accurately determined.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect from
the date of its passage.
