before provided for may be to another justice of the peace re-
siding in the said Laurel district.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 607.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the Mayor and City Council
of Laurel to establish, construct and maintain a sewerage
system for the town of Laurel, Prince George's county, and
extend the water system in said town, and to issue and sell
its bonds to the amount of not exceeding $35,000.00; and to
issue bonds in the sum not exceeding $15,000.00 for electric
light purposes.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Mayor and City Council of Laurel be and it is
hereby fully authorized and empowered to construct, establish
and maintain in working order a sewerage system in the town
of Laurel for the collection, transmission and disposal of drain-
age and sewerage from the houses and other buildings, and cess
pools, wells, sinks and other receptacles for sewerage and drain-
age, etc., in said town, including also, if the said Mayor and
City Council shall at any time so determine, storm water and
other drainage from the streets, lanes, roads and alleys thereof,
under such limitations as will prevent the stopping up of the
drainage pipes, and that the Mayor and City Council of Laurel
shall have power to determine when and where, and in what
order, and under what streets, roads, lanes and alleys tlie
sewers and drains shall be constructed or laid, and to make con-
tracts for the construction thereof, and shall have all powers
necessary or appropriate for said purposes and for the accom-
plishment of the objects thereof.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Mayor and City Council
of Laurel shall have full power and authority to acquire by
purchase, lease, gift or devise, or by condemnation in the man-
ner prescribed in sections 248 to 254, inclusive, of article 23 of
the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, title "Corpora-
tions," sub-title "Condemnation of property by corporations,"
any lands, or any interest therein, in and near said town of
Laurel, which may be needed for the disposal of said sewage or
drainage, or for any pipes, sewers, buildings or other works or
structures needed for the construction and operation of said
sewers, or the disposal of said sewerage or drainage, and shall
