88 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

Approved April 6, 1908.

CHAPTER 35.

AN ACT to amend the charter and to confirm and enlarge the
powers and authority of St. Mary's Industrial School for
Boys of the city of Baltimore, by repealing and re-enacting
Section 2 of Chapter 402 of the Acts of 1867 and Section 3
of Chapter 288 of the Acts of 1874.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 2 of Chapter 402 of the Acts of 1867, be
and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted so as to read as
follows:

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corporation may
possess and hold property not exceeding in value five hundred
thousand dollars.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 3 of Chapter 288 of the Acts of 1874,
be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, so as to read
as follows:

SEC. 3. The Governor of the State of Maryland and the
Mayor of the city of Baltimore shall each appoint, every two
years, five persons to represent said State and city, respectively,
in the board of trustees of said institution.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

Approved February 27, 1908.

CHAPTER 248,

AN ACT to authorize and require conductors or managers of
all railway companies or corporations, and all persons run-
ning or operating cars or coaches by electricity in the State
of Maryland for the transportation of passengers, to desig-
nate separate seats for white and colored passengers on all
cars running twenty miles beyond the limits of any incorpora-
ted city or town of the State, without any difference in the
quality of or convenience or accommodation of the seats
in such cars and coaches.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That conductors or managers of all railway companies
