SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the first day of July, in the year nineteen hundred and
eight.

CHAPTER 292.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 6 of
Chapter 109, of the Acts of the General Assembly of Mary-
land, Session of 1904 (being identical with Section 351 of
Article 27 of the Code of Public General Laws prepared by
Hon. John P. Poe, and authorized by Chapter 79 of the Acts
of 1904. )
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 6 of Chapter 109 of the Acts of the Gen-
eral Assembly of Maryland, Session of 1904, being identical
with Section 351 of Article 27 of the Code of Public General
Laws, prepared by Hon. John P. Poe, and authorized by Chap-
ter 79 of the Acts of 1904, be and the same is hereby repealed
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the following words con-
tained in Section 1 of this Act, to wit: "and each compartment
of a car or coach divided by a good substantial partition, by a
door or place of exit from each division shall be deemed a sepa-
rate car or coach within the meaning of this Act, " shall not
apply to the counties of Prince George's, Charles, St. Mary's,
Calvert and Anne Arundel, so that in said counties there shall
be separate cars or coaches for the travel and transportation
of the white and colored passengers on the respective lines of
railroad, and a car divided by a compartment shall not be
deemed a separate car or coach within the meaning of this
section, but a combination car, not over one-third of which
is used for baggage or mail, for the purposes of this Act shall
be deemed a separate car, and each separate car or coach shall
have in some conspicuous place, both outside and inside, appro-
priate' words and plain letters indicating whether it is set
apart for white or colored passengers; provided, this section
shall not apply to trains making no scheduled intermediate
service stops between their termini.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
