SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the salary of said stenogra-
pher shall be thirteen hundred dollars ($1,300) per year, from
the first day of April, nineteen hundred and eight; the said
salary to be paid as follows: The County Commissioners of Cecil
county shall pay three hundred and sixty dollars ($360) there-
of; the County Commissioners of Talbot county shall pay two
hundred and sixty-five dollars ($265) thereof; the County Com-
missioners of Kent county shall pay two hundred and fifty
dollars ($250) thereof; the County Commissioners of Queen
Anne's county shall pay two hundred and fifty dollars ($250)
thereof, and the County Commissioners of Caroline county shall
pay one hundred and seventy-five dollars ($175) thereof, said
payment to be made in quarterly instalments, from the first
day of April, nineteen hundred and eight.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the stenographer appointed
under this Act shall serve for one year, and shall be removed
at any time for cause, at the pleasure of said judges, and shall
perform such duties as may be imposed upon him by such
judges of said court, or either of them.
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 395.
AN ACT authorizing and empowering the County Commis-
sioners of Caroline county, in conjunction with the County
Commissioners of Talbot county, to construct a new draw-
bridge, or to re-construct or rebuild the old one, and cause-
way leading thereto, connecting Caroline and Talbot counties,
at the place known as Dover Bridge; to borrow money on the
credit of Caroline county for the purpose of paying one-half
the cost thereof; to issue bonds for the payment of the same,
and to levy taxes on the assessable property in said county
to reclaim said bonds, and to pay the interest thereon.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Caroline county, in
conjunction with the County Commissioners of Talbot county,
be and they are hereby authorized, empowered and directed to
construct a new draw-bridge, or to reconstruct or rebuild the
old one, and the causeway leading thereto (as they may think
best), connecting Caroline and Talbot counties, at the place
known as Dover Bridge; provided, however, that nothing con-
tained in this Act shall be construed as making it compulsory
