SEC. 2. If any person, club, association or corporation, or
officer, or agent thereof, shall violate any of the provisions of
section one of this Act, they shall be deemed guilty of a mis-
demeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be fined not more
than five hundred dollars, or be imprisoned in the county jail
or House of Correction for not more than one year, or be both
fined and imprisoned in the discretion of the court.

SEC. 3. That the said marshal of police, or the County Com-
missioners of Baltimore county, shall not issue a permit as
defined by section one of this Act, to any person, club, associa-
tion or corporation unless he or it believe them to be proper
persons to hold said entertainments.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 198.

AN.ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments sections 176
and 177 of article 3 of the Code of Public Local Laws of the
State of Maryland, title "Baltimore County," sub-title "Po-
lice and Police Stations," as the said section 177 was re-
enacted and amended by chapter 243 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland, passed at the January
session, 1902, and relating to the pay and expenses of the
police force and the levy therefor.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That sections 176 and 177 of article 3 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of the State of Maryland, title "Baltimore
County," sub-title "Police and Police Stations," as the said
section 177 was re-enacted and amended by chapter 243 of the
Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland, passed at the Janu-
ary session, 1902, be and the same are hereby repealed and re-
enacted so as to read as follows:

176. The pay of each patrolman shall not be less than seventy
dollars per month, and the pay of the marshal shall be not less
than one hundred dollars per month, and the pay of such other
officers as the County Commissioners may designate in order
to promote the proper government, discipline and efficiency of
said police force, shall not be less than seventy dollars per
month; all pay-rolls to be made out monthly and certified as
required, by the County Commissioners; provided, however,
